Sustainable Building Assessment Scheme

The lecture introduces energetic assessment, tools and international certification schemes for sustainable building such as LEED, BREEAM and DGNB, the EU framework Level(s) and compares them with regard to their different approaches to ecological, economic and social criteria. It is also briefly discussed the life cycle assessment and the environmental performance of products by presenting the process of life cycle assessment (goal definition, life cycle assessment and impact assessment) and putting the life cycle assessment into the context of the life cycle of buildings. The Sustainable Building Certification Process will be demonstrated using an example, with students doing certification on a selected example and criteria, and evaluating the outcomes of the different approaches.
