Sustainable Marketplace

The Institute of Sustainability in Civil Engineering is developing a methodology to assess the sustainability of different packaging products. The long-term goal is creating a sustainable market place for those products. It will have a curated community of vendors offering packaging products supplemented with insightful sustainability related information. All of this will be available to conscious buyers seeking specific sustainability attributes. The primary focus at this stage will be the assessment of environmental sustainability criteria. Hence, insightful environmental information including carbon footprint reduction opportunities in the supply chain will be provided as well as market related data. To ensure a holistic approach to sustainability, future developments to incorporate the social dimension are foreseen. In developing the sustainable market place, standardized international methodologies will be prioritised to ensure harmonisation and robustness in outputs.
